Key Concepts

Below are some of the key concepts that guide the students at the Jiva Yoge Centre. These are not meant to limit the scope of what we do or who we are, but are what all else revolves around.

          KARMA

Karma is basically what happens to you in life. Good life events are good karma, and when bad things happen to you it is considered bad karma. Jiva Yoga teaches us to be grateful when we experience good karma and more importantly, how to handle bad karma.

The essence of karma is that what we do through our actions, (good or bad) is what we get back. We create karma. In other words: what you sow, so shall you reap. If we handle bad karma incorrectly we will create more bad karma which we will have to deal with in the future. If we aren't grateful when the good karma happens, we could also impact our future negatively.

Jiva Yoga gives us practical tools to deal with karma in the most effective manner. Jeeva likens karma to canning and a pantry. All our actions, good and bad are put into cans and stored in a pantry. In the future when we open a can from the pantry it might be good or bad karma released. We are coninually adding cans to our pantry, as well as opening old cans. So try to avoid canning bad karma â€“ hence the picture above!

Jeeva chants AUM to the music of the tamboura, a stringed East Indian instrument. Jeeva’s yoga students regularly walk, drive, meditate and listen to this combination to clear blocks in their body energy and connect with their spiritual energy. Those listening will find it brings a sense of well being and peace. Others will find that the healing of pain and physical ailments can result. Centre yourself. Listen carefully and fully be one with the sound. AUM along with Jeeva for maximum benefit.

        DHARMA

Dharma, very simply stated is about helping others; doing service. Jeeva tells us that this is one of the main tools we have at our disposal to create good karma and to manage, lessen or as Jeeva describes it, to "soften" bad karma.

Dharma is not only the altruisitic, volunteering type of helping. Helping your friends and family; helping people at work and just smiling at strangers all counts as dharma.

   THE  SOUL

We believe that everyone's true nature; our soul, is love, forgiveness, compassion. You'll see this statement throughout the website. This is Jiva Yoga's  mantra and belief.

The illustration to the left is one that Jeeva visualised while meditating. It depicts our soul journey. Each layer represents the different stages each of us travel through in fully realising our true selves, and connecting with our soul....represented in the middle as pure white.
